Lakeside cabins at twilight under string lights, with reflections on the still water
Amala

A small family of distinctive stays.

Two properties today — Casa Monteflores in Puerto Rico and Macchiato in Toronto. More to come, including experiential cabin retreats in places worth slowing down for.

Amala means pure in Sanskrit. The name reflects the way we want each property to feel — quietly considered, lightly on the land, focused on the parts of travel that actually matter. Amala is the parent brand for a small, deliberately growing collection of stays. Each property has its own identity and reason to exist, but they share a standard: distinctive design, warm hospitality, and a strong sense of place. We'd rather build a few memorable stays than a long list of forgettable ones.

A cluster of design-led A-frame cabins in a quiet, forested place — string lights on the water, a fire on the shore, the kind of stay you remember the year you took. Locations and timing TBD.

More to come

One at a time

We add new properties slowly and only when they earn their spot — distinctive enough to belong in the collection, located somewhere worth going. If you have an idea or a property to share, get in touch.

How we build

Each Amala property gets real attention — guest communication, design, the small details that make arrival smooth and staying easy. We try to build lightly, both in footprint and in the rhythm of the stay: energy-efficient systems where they make sense, responsibly managed land and water on the larger sites, and design choices that age well rather than chase trends.

  • Distinctive design with strong identity
  • Warm, responsive hospitality
  • Locations worth showing up for
  • Light footprint where we can manage it
  • Stays you remember after you leave

Find your stay

Whether it's Puerto Rico sun, Toronto rhythm, or — soon — a quiet lake at twilight, Amala offers places that feel considered, welcoming, and specific.
